Fernando R. Moya, M.D. is currently Director of Neonatology at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC and also Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina Medical School, Chapel Hill. He is also the Prsident and CEO of Coastal Carolina neonatology, PLLC, a private group of neonatologists. He obtained his M.D. and completed his Residency in Pediatrics at the Catholic University of Chile. His Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine training was in the Division of Perinatal Medicine of the Yale School of Medicine. Prior to this position he had fulltime faculty positions at Yale University, Louisiana State University, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and was the Richard Mithoff Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at The University of Texas-Houston from 1997-2005. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed publications in journals like Pediatrics, The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatric Research, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has also written over 20 invited articles and 18 book chapters. In addition, he has given over 120 guest lectures in 25 countries.
